The Argentine oil company YPF will complete the first stage of a pipeline that will connect the Vaca Muerta formation with Allen in Río Negro in the first quarter of 2025, with a capacity of 350,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), said its CEO.

The pipeline, which will have five pumping units and will extend from the unconventional hydrocarbon formation to a port in Punta Colorada in a second stage, will have a capacity of more than 700,000 bpd starting in 2028, explained Horacio Marín to industry executives in Houston.

The executive said he was in talks with the U.S. company Transfer Energy to operate the pipeline.
