TotalEnergies, a shareholder in the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession in southern Argentina, announced the start of production at one of its gas fields, Fénix.
This offshore field, located 60 kilometers off the coast of Tierra del Fuego, has a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters per day, the equivalent of 70,000 barrels of oil per day, highlighted the French energy giant in a statement.
For its exploitation, a new fully automated platform has been built and connected to the existing facilities of the CMA-1 concession.
The gas will be transported via a 35-kilometer subsea pipeline to the Véga Pleyade platform, operated by TotalEnergies, and then processed onshore at the Río Cullen and Cañadon Alfa complexes, also operated by the French group, which emphasized that it is "a low-cost, low-emission project."
TotalEnergies holds a 37.5% stake in CMA-1, as does Harbour Energy. The remaining 25% belongs to Pan American Energy.
