The Board of Directors of the oil national company YPF, headed by economist Guillermo Nielsen, appointed Sergio Affronti as its new CEO, a businessman from the province of Mendoza that counts with a 27-year career in the national and global industry of hydrocarbons.
The designation was announced by the company after the General Assembly of YPF's Shareholders, held on April 30.
Affronti began his professional career in YPF as a production operative at the province of Mendoza, while his technical career led him to work at the San Jorge Gulf and Neuquén's oil fields.
The new CEO of the company was also the creator of the Sustenta program, which was aimed to develop local suppliers in the regions where YPF operates.
He also assembled a team of more than 250 investigators from CICET and YPF to co-fund YPF Tecnología (Y-TEC), and was its first president at the funding stage, an experience that allowed the company to count with R&D capacities in the region.
Once the encounter ended, Affronti met with Daniel González, former CEO, to coordinate an organized transition with the rest of the executive management team.
Affronti has a degree in Administration and national Public Accountant, with a postgraduate in Business at the IAE. He also trained at the Texas University in the US, under the Oil & Gas Management and Engineering Program.
During the last years, he worked as an independent consultant in strategic projects of international oil companies in Argentina, and headed a startup dedicated to the development of Vaca Muerta.
