EIA: US crude oil inventories rise while gasoline falls

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that oil stocks rose last week in the United States while gasoline and distillate inventories fell.

According to a Reuters survey, crude oil inventories increased by 1.75 million barrels last week to 437 million barrels, compared with analysts' expectations of a 0.5 million barrel increase.

Inventories at the Cushing, Oklahoma, storage and delivery hub fell by 1 million barrels last week, the EIA said.

The refinery utilization rate increased by 0.4 percentage points.

Gasoline stocks fell by 0.5 million barrels during the week, the EIA said, compared with analysts' expectations of a 2.2 million barrel drop.

Distillate inventories, which include diesel and heating oil, decreased by 2.8 million barrels during the week, compared with expectations of a 0.3 million barrel drop, the EIA report showed.

Net crude oil imports during the past week fell by 1.4 million barrels per day, the EIA said.
