The new Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, confirmed Flavia Royón as Secretary of Energy, replacing Darío Martínez.
"Royón will be accompanied by "Santiago Yanotti as Undersecretary of Electric Energy, Federico Bernal as Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons and Cecilia Garibotti as Undersecretary of Planning," wrote Massa on his Twitter account.
In addition, the minister thanked "the work of Darío Martínez, Federico Basualdo and the team that until has carried out until now the task in Energy. The objective of all of us must be our energy sovereignty and the transformation of Argentina as a power in the energy sector".
The appointment of the new officials and the departure of Martínez and Basualdo was "coordinated and agreed" between Massa, Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and the Head of State, Alberto Fernández, official sources told Télam.
Flavia Royón has a degree in industrial engineering from the National University of Salta, a master's degree from the IAE Business School and a diploma in subjects related to production and integrated mining management, business and agile methodologies.
Until now she has been Secretary of Mining and Energy of the Government of Salta and, at the same time, chaired the Economic and Social Council of that province.
From the beginning of her term, she promoted the design and articulation of the Provincial Plan for Sustainable Mining Development and carried out projects to stimulate investments in exploration in the northwest basin; and the development of renewable energies.
Meanwhile, the new Undersecretary of Electric Energy, Santiago Yanotti, has been Vice-President of the Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico (Cammesa) since June 2021 and was previously Undersecretary of Coordination of the Secretariat of Energy.
On the other hand, Federico Bernal, new Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, held the position of Comptroller of the Ente Regular del Gas (Enargas).
